While visiting family in Dallas, they kept mentioning "El Paisano" and I asked "what were they talking about?". They said it was one of the best tacos they've had so-far in the Metroplex area. (They were not wrong).
The first time I was there, I was impressed with the place, the service, the food, the staff friendliness, well... the restaurant overall.
To start, I ordered three tacos de fajita and two tacos al pastor. Had two additional fajita, after this.
The tacos did NOT disappoint me, they were and are delicious, served with grilled onions, complimentary corn-tortilla chips and fresh mild salsa.
I will be coming back to El Paisano, when in Dallas. -

I wouldn't go as far as saying these tacos are better than what you'd get in Austin, but they're pretty freaking good.
You're served their house salsa with chips once you're seated and Lord, they're amazing. The chips are crispy, fresh and not in the least bit greasy, and the salsa is just an explosion of amazing flavors. I can easily say it's some of the best salsa I've had.
The tacos themselves are also delicious. They are double layered... and stick to each other so don't try peeling one off, but it definitely doesn't feel too heavy by any means. The plates also come with a hefty portion of cilantro, raw onions and cooked onions, the meat is flavorful and can be topped off with two additional sauces that are at each table, one red and one green (the red is pretty darn spicy).
Beyond the food, the location is slightly sketchy, the tables are grungy, and not much English is spoken by staff, but these should not be limiting factors to prevent anyone from experiencing these tacos. -

The. Best. Tacos. I've. Ever. Had.
Growing up in Texas (Austin), I've explored this state over and over again -- all in the name of tacos. I've relocated to Atlanta for work and recently moved to Dallas; apparently because I needed to have this restaurant in my back yard. Here's what you came to the c-section for:
1) The fajita tacos are insane. Juicy, full a flavor, served on perfect corn tortillas.
2) The pastor taco was a little dry in comparison to the beef but was still the best I've had. All thrill, no frills.
3) I think I paid $1.50 per taco?
4) There's an elote stand next door (cash only) that you must try alongside your tacos. The combo is where it's at.
I'm on a food high as this entire experience was what a foodie's dreams are made of. No, the neighborhood is not Uptown-adjacent -- welcome to the real Dallas :).
Stop by, order some food, the trip is well worth it. -

Best salsas! Usually tacos are on point. Occasionally not. Overall consistent!
If you're not okay with being in "the hood" ...do not go!

If you love tacos you must come here! It's kind of in a shady part of North Dallas, but definitely worth the drive.
I went here for lunch with my co-workers a few times. The service is very quick, you can look at the menu but I recommend the taco's. Seems like most people get tacos when they get here, or fajitas. Place is huge, bigger then most Mexican restaurants. They give you chips and salsa as soon as you sit down. The salsa is a bit spicy and the chips taste a bit stale. But otherwise decent I guess.
I ordered 4 corn beef fajita tacos with onion and avocado. The food comes fairly quick after ordering. They give a large portion of meat with each taco. They also give a good amount of cooked onion and cilantro and cheese on the top. You think you're only going to eat 3 tacos and that you're full, but 3 seconds later you will find yourself finishing all the tacos and debating if you want more. The beef is so flavorful and juicy, not chewy at all. The shells are cooked crisp , avocados looked fresh and they gave a large slice of it. Also plenty of toppings for each taco as well. For the price you get really good portions.
You can ask for separate checks and pay up front. Checking out at the register is a little slow, there system seems to be a bit dated. But I will be back for more tacos, this place is now a favorite of mine!
